Basilica

the most valuable cultural monument in Porec. It was built on the remains of an earlier tri-naval basilica, in the first half of the 6th century, during the period of Bishop Euphrasius, whose name it bears.

Round Tower

Temple of Neptune

In park, west of the Marafor Square, only fragments of the classical temple which was dedicated to the god of the sea, remain preserved.

Forum Romanum

The old Roman Forum can be found at the end of the main decumanus (today Decumanus Street). At a few points, a stone pavement of the square, from the classical period, is visible under the present day pavement.

Pentagonal Tower

Located at the beginning of the main street, Decumanus, at the entrance of the old city heart. It was built in the mid l5th century in Gothic style and was reinforced landwards to provide a higher level of protection from a possible assault of the Turks. There is a relief of a Mletke lion on it. Up until the French occupation, parts of the Great City Doors were preserved. It is interesting that the towers fortified in this way, are in fact, a kind of tower within the tower, the outer wall is constructed from stone, as well as the inner wall, while the space between the two walls more..

House of two saints

Built in the 14/15th century in a Romanesque style. It derived its name from the two stone relief figures of the two saints alongside the window on the last floor. On the ground floor a large stone arch stands out.

Porec Museum

The Native Museum of Porec building is situated in a Baroque palace, Sincic, from the 18th century. On the ground floor there is a collection of stone monuments with Roman scriptures, and an archaeological collection of prehistoric ceramic works. In original Baroque salons on the first and on the second floor, artistic paintings and objects can be found. There is also a special collection of portraits and objects of a family from Kopar, the Carli family, whose last descendent lived in Porec. Parenzana

Parenzana is one-rail railway connecting with Trieste over a series of stations, with Porec as a final station. It was in function from 1902 to 1935. The main purpose is to transfer agricultural goods of northwestern Istria. Parenzana crossed three states: Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. The first section (Trieste – Buje) was opened on 1 April 1902. Here's an interesting story : Mussolini’s government dismantled the tracks and shipped them into Ethiopia which had just been occupied. Marafor Square

Remains of the temple of Mars and Neptune can be seen on Marafor square. This is the place very near the old town core of Porec located practically on the very end of the peninsula.
The name of the square originates in two words – “Mars” and “forum” (square). The present Marafor is significantly smaller than the previous square, and you can still see the remains of the ancient pavement.

Cave Baredine

The few interesting facts about this cave : it is 132 meters deep,on its bottom are underground lakes which are up to 30 meters deep,the cave is a protected geomorphologic nature reserve and it is in the vicinity of the town of Nova Vas, near Porec. The temperature is usually around 14 º C, and in one of the halls is a hole 4m wide and 66m deep that goes down to the underground lakes.
