Korenica (657m) is a cultural and administrative centre of National Park Plitvice Lakes.
From the entrance in National Park Plitvice Lakes (starting point to visit lakes) Korenica is 15 km far (10-15 minutes by car).
In Korenica you can by foot climb mountain Mrsinj (1259 m), where you can find ruins of medieval fortress Mrsinj Grad (1097 m), and the mountain Gola Pljesevica (1646 m).
In Korenica is more shops, restaurants, pharmacy, hospital, bank, and the bus station.
It has appx.2000 residents (2001).
In SFRY it was named Titova Korenica after Tito. On that area now live Croatian, and Serbian people. There is one elementary school and one high school.
