The Slovenian coastline is so small and Piran is a tiny port across from the Italian border. Not noted for high quality hotels, it is pretty and the fish restaurants offer excellent fresh food at minimal prices. Probably worth an overnight if like us you caught a ridiculously cheap Ryanair flight to Trieste and are on your way to Rovinj.
