Edit ThisThe castle is undergoing significant restoration at present: A medieval stronghold which dominates the east coast and protected the Islanders from the time of King John in the early 13th century. The current scaffolding brings it right up to date.

Elizabeth Castle and The Hermitage
Edit ThisBuilt on a rocky islet in the 1590's, the castle was named after Queen Elizabeth I by Sir Walter Raleigh whilst he was Governor of Jersey. There are exhibitions explaining the role of the castle in Jersey's history. The Hermitage, a small chapel has been a holy place since the 12th century and is dedicated to the saint from whom the town of St Helier takes its name. Also has a daily show at midday, with the castle MAster Gunner, explaining the history, and more, culminating in the firing of an authentic black powder cannon

Corbiere Lighthouse

Built in 1873 Corbiere lighthouse was the first concrete built lighthouse in the British Isles and is positioned on the south west corner of the Island.
Access to the lighthouse depends upon the state of the tide.

La Hougue Bie
Edit ThisDescribed as "one of Europe's finest prehistoric monuments". It is dominated by the massive burial mound dating from 3800 BC. There is also a Neolithic passage grave and two Medieval chapels, archaeology and geology galleries and an Inter-active discovery centre.
