Gent (also known as Ghent ) is a city located in the Flemish region of Belgium . The city was founded in medieval times and still retains much of its original architecture. To help preserve the history of the town, the centre is designated a car-free area. Popular sightseeing attractions include the Saint Bavo Cathederal and Saint-Jacobs church. There are also numerous museums of art and design. The ‘Patershol’ region of the city boasts a high concentration of restaurants and bars and is very popular with tourists. Special events in Gent include the world renowned ‘I Love Techno’ festival, ‘10 Days off Festival’ and the ‘World Film Soundtrack Awards’. For accommodations, you can choose from many 1- 4 star hotels. For the budget minded, the un-rated Villa Cento Passi might be for you. Nice 60m2 apartment with living room and well-equipped kitchen, bedroom and private bathroom. Two can also sleep in a comfortable sofa bed. Close to major freeways. Near “Zuidpark” and “Citadelpark”, on walking distance to fine restaurants, theatres, cinemas, museums and cafés.

Brooderie

This is a wonderful place for B&B provided only that you don't mind using the toilets of the cafe below your room.

Rooms are huge and comfortable and the Brooderie is sited within a stone's throw of the most scenic bit of waterway in Ghent and of the castle. Breakfast in the cafe is excellent.

Novotel Gent Centrum

A good value comfortable hotel that is in a good location. There is a bright and airy reception area with pleasant and efficient staff. Facilities include an outdoor terrace and swimming pool for the summer, sauna and fitness rooms and even a Playstation machine in the lobby. There is also internet access available for a couple of euro although there is only one PC and it could do with upgrading.

The rooms are comfortable with a double desk and a sofa that could turn into a second double bed. Minibar, multi-channel TV and PC modem connection. Separate WC and bathroom more..
