Le Chocolatier Manon

Many chocolate connoisseurs claim that Belgian chocolate is the best in the world and that  the finest are found in Brussels. Le Choclatier Menon in Brussels is a chocolate factory you can tour.

You’ll see chocolate being made and be given the opportunity to eat some delicious hand-made praline chocolates filled with fresh hazelnut creams and other yummy ingredients. The choclatier make 80 varieties of pralines and does not use colorants or preservatives.

The factory is open to visits (by reservations only) Monday to Friday throughout the year except in December and 3 weeks prior to Easter. You pay about 10 euros per person for the tour which includes a box of chocolates. This choclatier is a must-add for your Brussels Family Travel plans.    

Another treat kids and adults will love in Brussels are waffles (gauffre) with chocolate, raspberry or strawberry sauce and whipped cream, available in street stalls everywhere.           
    
The Atomium

This amazing structure built in 1958 is a visual representation of an iron crystal molecule with its 9 atoms. Coated in aluminum, the Atomium is about 334 feet tall with each atomic sphere containing science exhibits, except the upper one which houses a buffet restaurant and offers a wonderful view of the city.

The structure is open April to August and September to March and is best seen all lit up at night to resemble revolving atoms. The elevator is said to be the fastest in Europe. Kids under 12 get in free.

Don’t forget to take the kids through the Mini-Europe park at the foot of the Atomium. The park features the fall of the Berlin Wall, gondolas in Venice, the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, London’s Big Ben, Seville’s bullfights and more.
