Buy just about anything you can imagine, Radios, shoes made by nice, they look like nike. Sports fans can buy San Fransico 59er hats, or New York Raider shirts. Also there are food stands that sell shashlik, a.k.a shishka-bobs, they are slow roasted meat on a stick, and very tasty.

Edit ThisLenina, a short walk from McDonalds, it is halfway between the Metro stops Kupalovskaya and Nemiga.
Here you can barter for handcrafted items, paintings, matroshka(nesting dolls), etc. If you are staying a while it is possible to get an artist to make a set of nesting dolls of your family, of famous celebrities, or of past Russian Leaders.

Outdoor Art Market
Edit ThisLocated half-way between Oktiabrskaya and Pobedy Square metro stations and tucked away behind the monstrocity of the War museum this is truly a wonderful little market. Some local crafts, but mostly paintings are somewhat tailored to local tastes (still-life, nature, etc.), but there are a few very interesting works. Don't be afraid to bargain. We got a wonderful semi-surreal oil of a rainy city original for 20 bucks (I think they would have been happy to give it to us for 15), framed and packaged.
