Getting There in Zell am See

Most of the town centre is free from traffic, and its calm, medieval traditions keep tourists coming back to the town year after year.
Getting to Zell am See by Plane
While not gifted with an airport, the town of Zell am See is adequately served by trains from Salzburg and other main cities. For people looking to visit Zell am See, getting there is comparatively easy: the town is about 50 miles from Salzburg, and the latter city has an airport which is served by some of the major airplane companies.
- Catch a plane to Salzburg from an international airport, such as London or Paris
- Take the shuttle from Salzburg airport to the train station
- Take a train to the resort
- You’re there!
Getting There by Other Means
The alternative to taking the train is to get into a car and drive there. Zell am See is about an hour and a half’s drive from Salzburg, and three hours from the city of Munich. If you plan to land in Salzburg airport and rent a car, here is the route:
- Head south from the airport on the A1 or A10
- Take the B311 for Zell am See
- Cars heading from Munich should take the autobahn to Salzburg and follow the above directions.
