7 Day Itinerary in Zell am See
Edit ThisZell am See is a ski resort in the Austrian Alps, not far from Salzburg. Visitors coming to Zell am See typically wish to participate in skiing or winter sports activities without needing to consult an itinerary, but it is also useful to prepare a guide to things to see and do if the weather unexpectedly warms up (for example) or for other members of the group who are not so keen on skiing. Making a Zell am See itinerary is one way to help everyone keep track of what they are planning to do.
Day 1
Arrive at Salzburg airport and travel to Zell am See. Place luggage in your hotel, and enjoy a walk through the mostly medieval town. Visit a major après ski bar in town, and relax.
Day 2Skiers may safely leave for the peaks and other tourists may enjoy wandering through the Schmittenhohe, where artists have created wood sculptures and other works. There are a number of trails that can help tourists find these works. Get back in time for dinner at the Jagawirt, a restaurant owned by a hunter who often serves his kill.
Day 3Skiers can go to the runs and other tourists may want to go horse riding. Another great thing to do is take a horse drawn sleigh. There is also tandem paragliding. Stop in time, get ready to go out, and join other revellers at the Crazy Daisy.
Day 4Take a trip to Salzburg for shopping, history, or a relaxing day walking the cobblestone streets and enjoying a rich pastry at one of the famous cafes in the city. Salzburg has a lot to offer the interested tourists, including the Hohensalzburg fortress. It is also the place where Mozart was born, and an industry has grown up around the musician and his works. Most likely there will be a concert or music festival in his honour, no matter when your visit occurs. Salzburg also offers ‘Sound of Music’ tours that take tourists to the places filmed for the movie. Return to Zell am See in time to eat and enjoy one of the village's many bars.
Day 5Visit the Tower and go into the folklore museum. Afterwards, visit St Hippolyte’s Church and marvel at the beautiful medieval statues.
Day 6Go to Kaprun and visit the 12th century castle built by Italians. Take time to see the amazing water reservoir. Or, enjoy the beauty of Lake Zell with an attractive cruise; it is also possible to take a cable car up to the top of the Schmittenhohe Mountains. Pack your bags and get plenty of rest for your trip home.
Day 7Return to Salzburg and catch a flight home.
