Imst Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and see"Small but beautiful" is the word to describe the Imst ski resort.
Located in the western part of the Tirol region, about 40 km west of
Innsbruck, the village centre lies at an altitude of 830 m. With its
8000 inhabitants Imst makes you feel at home soon. Protected by the 7
km-wall of the Heiterwand, the climate of Imst is very mild. The area
around is one of the Alpine dry valleys - only half of rainfall as on
the north side of the Alps. Even warmth-loving trees like alder grow on
up to 900 m altitude. But snow nevertheless is guaranteed in winter,
when Imst is most beautiful. Whether you are fond of skiing,
snowbording, walking, climbing or tobogganing – you days will be
filled.
With its soft curves the Alpjoch offers "black piste gustos", but don’t be afraid: the naturally divided terrain ranges from beginner to expert. The local tourist board offers together with the Alpine schools attractive programs, tours for beginners to 3000m-round trips, from hut hikes over glacier photo safari at the Taschachferner, the largest ice fault of Easttirol, to the Wildspitz tour.
