Smbataberd Fortress

This fortress, on a thin peninsula with tall sheer sides, is naturally almost impossible to conquer, but with the tall walls added to it, it's hard to imagine an invader conquering the imposing combination.

Driving up the narrow road is not really recommended - hiking is your best bet.  Across the mountain is Tsakhats Kar Monastery which you can visit on the same day.
