Noravank Monastery
Edit ThisNoravank Monastery
Surrounded by brick-red cliffs, containing a two story church (one on top of the other) and stairs that are solid stones jutting out of walls, this is one of Armenia's must-see destinations. Impeccably restored in the 1990s, the monastery is a masterpiece that is now seeing religious services again and has lay buildings as well.

Smbataberd Fortress
Edit ThisSmbataberd Fortress
This fortress, on a thin peninsula with tall sheer sides, is naturally
almost impossible to conquer, but with the tall walls added to it, it's
hard to imagine an invader conquering the imposing combination.
Driving up the narrow road is not really recommended - hiking is your
best bet. Across the mountain is Tsakhats Kar Monastery which you can
visit on the same day.

Spitakavor Monastery
Edit ThisSpitakavor Monastery
In the mountains above Yeghegnadzor, it would be a long days hike by foot - better to take a 4x4, this little monastery has its own look and is the burial place of Garegin Njdeh.
