Kotayk Marz is the region just north of Yerevan. The Marz is geographically bounded by the Geghama mountains on the east, plains and the Hrazdan River gorge in the center, and the hills and Mt. Ara on the west.
The most popular attractions are all an easy day trip from Yerevan. They include Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery, the ski town of Tsaghkadzor (with Kecharis Monastery), the hot-springs in Arzni, Arzakan and Hankavan, and Mt. Ara itself.
