One of the best choices among all possible Andorra la Vella day trips is taking a day trip to the marvelous city of Barcelona. Barcelona is the capital of the Catalonia autonomous community in Spain. It is also the most populous city in the region and 2nd largest in the whole country, with a population of over 3 million people. Here is how to reach the city from Andorra la Vella and what to see once in Barcelona.
Getting to Barcelona
A well-maintained road network connects Andorra la Vella to Barcelona. The distance between both cities is about 140km, but the road trip is a bit longer and lasts about three hours. There are various buses serving the route between both cities, but you can also rent a car for your trip. The bus ticket (including return) costs $60. Car rentals start from $80 daily for a run of up to 400km (which is more than enough for going to and returning from Barcelona).
Sights in Barcelona
Barcelona is a city rich in historical and architectural sights. Once arriving in the city, you shouldn’t miss the chance to see architectural wonders such as the gothic cathedral Santa Eulalia or the Sagrada Familia (another impressive church). A fabulous modernist castle can be seen close to the city harbor. It is called Castell dels tres Dracs and was built in 1988.
