Stone Houses in Barri Antic
Barri Antic is a small portion of the city which used to be the capital of Andorra several hundred years ago. Barri Antic used to be the center for trade in Andorra before it expanded and became what is now known as Andorra la Vella. You can find loads of old structures and shops in this village. You can also see stone houses in this village as you walk down its narrow cobbled streets.
Casa de la Vall
This structure was over 400 years old and was used as the parliament building of Andorra. This landmark stands proud near Barri Antic and its interiors are locked up from the public view. But then, there are free guided tours in the area but you have to make reservations months before the tour starts, because only a limited number of people are allowed to enter the place.
Església de Sant Esteve
Another famous landmark in Andorra la Vella, the Església de Sant Esteve, is the parish church of the city. This church was constructed during the 11th century. The church has survived a great number of wars and extensive effort from the government has been done to renovate the church. The church is also popular for the intricate designs of its stained-glass windows.
Plaça del Poble
Plaça del Poble means "people's square" in English and is located on the roof of a government building. Since it is located in a highly elevated area, you can have the splendid view of the mountains and valley of Andorra la Vella. The square is also a perfect destination during the evening.
Bridge of la Margineda
This is an old, yet strong, bridge which dates back to the medieval times. The bridge is located in Santa Coloma which is near the outskirts of the city. The bridge was made by Andreu Alfaro, a famous Valencian sculptor.
