Museums in Saranda

Edit This
Within the twists of the Ionian Sea is Saranda. This city--rich in tradition and sand-swept beauty--is a favorite of travelers from across the world; and Saranda Museums are the easy reasons why. Discover the history of Albania and create more than just a vacation. Instead create an experience .

Saranda Heritage Museum

Celebrating the past, the Saranda Heritage Museum is a must see on any holiday. Stroll through long corridors of mosaics and early Christian artifacts. Explore the town’s origins and Albania’s own importance to the world. Saints, martyrs and war are all vividly explained. It’s an intimate setting that will please. Don’t ignore it for the (admittedly tempting) beauty of the surrounding coast. Adults and children are both charged 100 lekë to enter. Reservations are not required, but groups are encouraged to secure their tickets early.

Butrinti Museum

Found mere miles from the borders of Saranda is the Butrinti archaeological site. This massive collection of fluted columns and ancient ruins is all that remains of the city that once stood here. Wander the Butrinti National Park and be astounded. Towering pillars, impressive stone amphitheaters and more await. The museum is a restored castle and will explain the history of the Mediterranean. It’s an all day event that is sure to thrill. No reservations are required. Tickets cost 700 lekë for non-native guests (or 500 lekë for non-natives in groups of 10 or more). The museum is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. all year.

Saranda museums are not just necessities for your vacation. They are joys. Let them teach and fascinate.
