Beaches in Saranda
Edit ThisSaranda
The main town of Saranda has a few artificial beaches that tourists can enjoy at their leisure. Unlike the sandy beaches that can be found on the coast, these beaches comprise of pebbles and shale. Regardless of this, they are still just as beautiful as the beaches on the coastline. Tourists don’t have to worry about missing out on water activities, as Saranda’s artificial beaches have suitable waters that allow swimming and some other water sports as well. This is ideal for tourists that cannot travel to far off beaches, or those who want to experience artificial ones.
Ksamil
One of the best beaches tourists can visit in this area is Ksamil Beach. This one is located to the south of the main town of Saranda. A 25 to 30 minute drive can easily get tourists to this beautiful beach with white sandy shores and blue waters that give it a more Caribbean appearance. Ksamil Beach is perfect for relaxing and is often strewn with beach chairs where visitors can sunbathe. There are a number of restaurants and bars in the area that offer drinks and good food at affordable rates. This beach is closer to the Greek island of Corfu than any of the others on the stretch. Ksamil Beach is also relatively close to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Butrinti.
Borsh
About 45 minutes to the north of Saranda is the Borsh Beach, which is located in the village of Borsh. This is one of the most beautiful beaches along the Saranda stretch. Olive groves surround the beach and town, giving them a wonderful appearance. The water is turquoise blue and quite warm, which make it great for swimming. This beach is not always crowded, so it’s perfect for sitting back and relaxing. Borsh Beach doesn’t have any facilities, but visitors can find some makeshift bars here during summer.
Bunec
Towards the north of Saranda is the village of Lukova, where tourists can find the beautiful Bunec Beach. The crystal clear waters of this beach flow directly to the Ionian Sea. The beach is ideal for everyone, as it's great for swimming or sun bathing. There are some underwater caves near this beach. Bunec Beach has several restaurants and bars that cater to the needs of visitors. Lukova has other beaches along its stretch which vary from sandy to rocky shores.
