Kruje is the home town of Skanderberg, Albania’s national hero. This guy gave the invading Turks a serious beating. Look at the fortress he was defending and you can understand how it is posisble that the Albanians were able to resist for so long against a much stronger opponent.
Kruje can be seen as a daytrip from Tirana.
