Bed and Breakfast in Butrint National Park
Edit ThisIn Butrint National Park there are two old traditional villages where families host tourists in their houses. The Bed and Breakfast in Xarra and Mursia, which are just a few kilometers from the main archeological site of the Park, is simple and economical. Most of the families have traditional houses that are simply furnished, but they are quite comfortable. Usually families divide the house with the guests, so some of the facilities such as the bathroom are shared.
This accomodation is ideal for people who would like to experience and discover the traditional life in Albania. Staying in the villages permits visitor to enjoy the beauties of the area and make different activities like trekking and boat tours. For groups can also be organized different activities in the villages like dinners with traditional albanian music and dances. Usually a family can host up to 4 people, because their houses are small. In the villages can be accommodated groups up to 20 people. As this activity is still in a pilot phase, people who would be interested to experience this Albanian adventure and especially foreigners would need the support from the Park guides or Butrint Foundation project staff, because in the villages it is difficult to find people who speaks English.
This activity is supported by Butrint Foundation and Butrint National Park in the framework of the Community Enterprise & Development Project. The objective of the project is to develop Community Based Tourism Activities which would not only improve the social and economical life of the communities around the park but would also contribute in raising the community awareness for preserving the cultural and natural values of the Park and its surrounding area.
