Just because you're going to an island doesn't mean that you have to spend all of your time on the beautiful, sandy white beaches. There are a multitude of ways that you can spend your days on St. Kitts and Nevis, from historical sites to golf resorts. Here are a few of the things that you can see on St. Kitts and Nevis, beginning with the fabulous beaches for those of you who do prefer to while away your island days.

Beaches

On St. Kitts you can check out the lovely stretches of sand that make up Black Rocks and Brimstone Hill beaches in the north. Venturing further south you can spend your time on Conaree Beach, Turtle Beach, Friar's Bay or Banana Bay. All are lovely and relaxing, and boast various animals such as monkeys that you can watch from the beach. Heading down to Nevis you can visit Pinney's Beach, Ft. Ashby's, Oualie Beach and Nisbet Beach all surrounding the northern part of the island. Or you can head further south to Windward Beach. The beaches in the south tend to be more isolated.

Museums

Nevis has a fascinating history that you can discover in the Nelson Museum or by exploring Fothergill's Nevisian Heritage Village, a reconstruction of old life in Nevis. It is also the location of the Alexander Hamilton House, the birthplace of the US Statesman that has since been transformed into a museum. St. Kitts, on the other hand, is the location of The National Museum.

Historical Sites

There are plenty of other sites with historical importance that can make for fascinating visits. In Basseterre you can roam around theBerkley Memorial, Independence Square and The Cenotaph. There are also two old churches in the city that are worth a wander, St. George's and St. Barnabus Anglican Churches. The north of St. Kitts has several other sites that will be of interest for history buffs. Brimstone Hill is the only man-made UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bloody River, Old Road Town and the Tomb of Sir Thomas Warner round out the history of St. Kitts.

Natural Sites

If you're more interested in the beautiful landscapes and the flora and fauna of the island then you should make time for a trip to the Botanical Gardens on Nevis. Or you can check out the scenery of St. Kitts from the comfort of a train with the St. Kitts Narrow Gauge Scenic Train Trip, which goes up and down the island.

Sports

Finally, if you're looking for something a little more low-impact than the typical diving and hiking to be found on the islands, you can head to the Racetrack or the Four Seasons Golf Course, both located on Nevis.

Regardless of where you end up on the islands, with just a few days and a sense of adventure you can discover all that these beautiful Caribbean paradises have to offer.
