Make arrangements before you come for a driver to pick you up at the airport. It is very confusing when you arrive and there will be a zillion people offering you rides (not recommended to take them up on it). Best to just have your hotel arrange it for you.

The drive to Negril was probably the most expensive part of the trip. $50 each way. Its over an hour away (maybe 2?), but you see a lot of the country and our driver was great--we chatted the whole way. He even stopped for patties & red stripes halfway to Negril because we couldn't wait anymore (and to make a transaction for us with one of his associates..., by the way, we asked for $20 worth and got a bush, no joke, it was the size of my forearm--way too much for 2 people to use in 4 days).

When your driver is that awesome, tip him well. $20 to an American is nothing, but great for them.

Getting from Montego Bay airport (and back again) is simple & cheap enough-the JUTA registered mini buses run from the airport (there’s a booking desk just in the main arrivals hall by the Margarita Bar) and will drop you at your hotel/guest house in Negril, just let the driver know where you’re staying. Cost is $20 (£10) each way, allow at least an hour and half for the journey time-but it can be quicker, traffic in Montego Bay depending!! If you ask your driver for a card/number for their booking office in Negril you can book a seat to get your flight home.
