casey: runs from beautiful and familiar (yes! this is haiti!) to painful and in need of being said. a gentle book that shows some of the strength and some of the hurts of haitian women and haitian americans. very interesting to read; important for women and men.

casey: mixes good information and a sense of haiti with the author's apparent arrogance (in places) and leaves me feeling like i have a sense about zombies and their place in haitian society, but not sure entirely i can trust that sense. worth reading. not sensational, as apparently the movie of the same name is.
