Called The Barefoot Island, Jost Van Dyke is the smallest of the British Virgin Islands. Being the smallest has its advantages: it’s less populated than the other islands, there are lots of secluded places and the area has been able to keep its natural beauty. Jost Van Dyke could be described as the island of leisure and relaxation.

Great Harbor Beach

The most popular beach on this island is Great Harbour Beach. It’s right off the settlement of Great Harbour where most of the stores and restaurants are making it very crowded in peak vacation seasons. Surrounded by mountains, the Great harbor beach is a picturesque location to sunbathe and enjoy the sea breeze. You’ll also be able to take advantage of the nearby restaurants and bars that the area is popular for.

White Bay Beach

White Bay is another large beach in Jost Van Dyke. The beach is covered in beautiful white sands and surrounded by a large reef. Boating is more popular around here leaving a serene beachside open for hammocks, long walks and fun in the water.  This beach is great for families with lots of calm waters suitable for swimming in and plenty of restaurants and resorts nearby.

“Bubbly Pool”

The “Bubbly Pool” is like a natural Jacuzzi tub. The pool sits behind cliffs that face the ocean and all its rolling waves. When the sea swells and large waves come crashing towards you they hit the cliffs and break, creating bubbles in the pool. 

Water Sports

Both White Bay and Great Harbour are great places to enjoy water sports. Kayaking, sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving are all popular choices for visitors. You can find many places that will equip your water sports activities.  Many resorts and hotels will have more information about these opportunities. Jost Van Dyke Water Sports takes groups out for dives in the surrounding areas. They’ll also schedule private charters for more sightseeing. 

Fishing

For fishing you can rent a boat from Jost Van Dyke Boat rentals. They have several different boats to fit your needs for any kind of trip. The Jost Van Dyke shores have a large variety of fish to offer including Tuna, Kingfish, Wahoo, White Marlin and Sailfish. The island is also home to fishing tournaments in the spring.
