Jost Van Dyke is best known as a sailor's haunt. The island has a small full time population and is best known for its bars, particularly Foxy's and the Soggy Dollar Bar (called that because of the soggy dollars that hang over the bar from sailors who have swam ashore for one of there famous "Painkillers").
