Beaches in Darien gap

If you can find them, then the Darien Gap beaches are stunning. This is a very remote area of the world. There are no paved roads and not many towns. Darien Gap spans the border between Panama and Columbia. It received its name from the only gap along the Pan-American Highway. The swamp and marshlands make very unfavorable conditions for paved roads. This is the spot to find beaches that have no hotels, resorts or any buildings. They are remote and gorgeous. Most beaches are present before or after the Gap.
Playa Manuel Antonio Beach
In order to reach this beach, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is necessary as the road is dirt and not well maintained. The drive is long, but very scenic. At the end of the journey is a beautiful sandy beach with lovely warm, clear waters. This particular beach is great for snorkeling, surfing and scuba diving. It is not possible to stay overnight at the beach as the park service closes them at sundown.
Capurgana
This small village is known for its isolated beaches. You can spend an entire day at the beach and have it all to yourself. The beaches are surrounded by rainforest, and there are absolutely no cars as all of the roads are for pedestrians, horse and carts, or bicycles. It is even possible to stay on the beach, where you can sleep in a hammock at a small beach hut. The beaches are also great for snorkeling.
Sapzurro
This little village is on the Panama side and has a beach that looks exactly like a postcard. There is one bar on the beach where you can get some great seafood. Relax for the day, go snorkeling, and pick a few mangoes. Spend a very relaxing day at this spectacular beach.
Tayrona National Park
This park and beaches stretch along some of the loveliest coastline in Columbia. Rent a hammock for the night and sleep with the cool Caribbean breezes. Swimming is not recommended due to the rip tide, but experienced surfers can enjoy the surf.
La Miel Beach
Yet again, the road to La Miel is quite bad, and if it has been raining, there is a good chance you will get stuck in mud. It is possible to hike from Sapzurro to La Miel, and the trail is very good. There is not a lot in the village of La Miel, but the beach is beautiful. If inclined, feel free to play some Bingo with the locals.
