If you are going to Antigua, then you should include these activities to your Antigua Guatemala things to do list. Antigua is an island located in the West Indies in the Caribbean. It is famous for its sandy beaches and pristine blue waters. Plus, there are also other things that you must do in Antigua aside from going to the beach. Here are some of the things that you can do in Antigua to enjoy your vacation.
Play Cricket
While most islands in the Caribbean are famous for the game of soccer, Antigua is famous for cricket. In fact, the island is the site where the 2007 Cricket World Cup was held. The first thing that you should include in your to do list in Antigua is to experience playing cricket and enjoy the unusual rules of the game.
Sailing
Another thing that you can do to enjoy your stay in Antigua is to go sailing in the pristine and blue waters of the Caribbean. If you happen to be in Antigua during summer, then you can take part in the Sailing Week and Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta if you have sturdy sea legs. Aside from sailing, you can also indulge in sports fishing.
Tour around the Fig Tree Drive
While you are in Antigua, you should not limit yourself to water sports activities since there are also a lot of inland attractions. One such attraction is the Fig Tree Drive. Interestingly enough, this road is named after the local name of banana in Antigua, "fig." This is a road that stretches for 32 km long until it takes you to the tropical hills overlooking the picturesque village of the southwest portion of Antigua.
Crab Race
If you want to take part in an eccentric and fun activity during the night, then you can hit the many bars of Antigua to take part in the crab race. This race involves you picking out live crabs from the display window of the bar and letting the crabs engage on a race to the finish line, with the other bar customers’ chosen crab.
Salt Ponds
You can explore the outskirts of Antigua’s rainforest, which features an inland salt pond, by joining a bush safari. You can marvel at the interesting wildlife that abound the area before you have your picnic in the many shaded areas of the park.
