Cojolyá is a non-profit association of Mayan Women Weavers from the Lake Atitlan village of Santiago.

For 25 years Cojolyá has been providing sustainable, fair-trade work for some 80 women who weave using the traditional back-strap loom. Founded by American, Candis Krummel, and Tz’utujil Santiageño, Antonio Ramirez, with a mission to help maintain and encourage this centuries-old Mayan tradition and provide work for local women.

Cojolya produces unique, high-quality, designer accessories that are inspired by nature and art, combining them into spectacular and unique collections of bags, scarves, shawls, hats, throws etc.

Our Museum and Store are in the centre of Santiago Atitlan. We also offer weaving tours to visit our weavers’ in their homes for demonstrations. Or try one of our weaving classes.

                                 Social Program

ONIL Stove Installation Project

Part of Cojolya’s mission is to help and support its workers and the community of Santiago through a variety of social projects.

Since 2007, the Cojolya Association has received financial support from OGIFA of Salt Spring, B.C., Canada for the purchase of full-efficient stoves.  Cojolya is currently collaborating with the Heal the Rainbow Foundation, which contributes administrative support for the project. Stoves are purchased from HELPS International Guatemala, a non-profit organization founded by Mr. O'Neal. Our long-term goal is to protect the Lake Atitlan biosphere by installing them in all of the lakeshore communities.

A percentage of sales from Cojoly products is also donated to our Social program.
