Getting Around

San Juan Travel has daily trips to Tikal leaving at 5:30am. Yes I know it is early but standing on an ancient monument in Tikal as the morning breaks with the mist rising is a magical experience. On the trip out to Tikal they will try an sell you a guide for the day which is worth it because the ruins are lost in tropical jungle and not easy to navigate around by yourself. Buses return on the hour until dusk and you are free to roam the ruins until then.
