Antigua Guatemala restaurants range from fast food to quaint restaurants featuring local fresh food. While there are a number of US food chains like McDonald's or Burger King, visitors are advised to try local restaurants, as they offer the best of Antigua. The city of Antigua is located in the highlands of Guatemala.

The Bagel Barn

A local café, the Bagel Barn sells breakfast and lunch items all day. This café is popular with visitors and ex-pats for a number of reasons, the biggest of which is that the bagels are rumored to be the best ones outside of Manhattan. They are made on site by the staff, and there are a number of Guatemalan side dishes that customers can order with their bagels that are made with fresh ingredients. The Bagel Barn also sells some of best coffee in the Antigua. There are a number of social activities at the Bagel Barn. The owners of the café show movies at night after the food service is shut down for the day. There is Wi-Fi access for tourists who need to access the web. 

Y Tu Pina, Tambien

The Y Tu Pina, Tambien is a bistro in Antigua. The restaurant is known primarily for soups and espresso. This restaurant is unique, as it acts as a bistro during the day and a bar in the evening. The owners sell a variety of premium liquors for their bar services at night and encourage patrons to come back the following morning to try their “hangover” soups. Chefs use fresh ingredients from the area to create their menu. As Antigua receives receive a number of visitors, this cafe has been designed to offer a western experience with a Latin edge.  The atmosphere is vibrant and will be the highlight of your visit. 

La Fonda de la Calle Real

The La Fonda de la Calle Real is more high-end restaurant in Antigua. This restaurant is primarily a steak house with a little bit of everything for patrons. In addition to steak, there are a number of chicken and fish dishes available. The restaurant also has a wide selection of vegetarian dishes.  Everything is cooked in a wood burning stove and is marinated with traditional Guatemalan spices. There is a relaxed romantic atmosphere for diners and vacationing couples to enjoy. This restaurant is housed in a former home and is three stories high. The second story has outdoor seating on the balconies.
