When to Go in Costa Rica
Edit ThisFrom our climate section here at World66, you have learned that Costa Rica can be classified
into four types of climatic zones: the wet lowlands, the lowlands with
a dry season, the temperate zones above 3,000 to 5,000 feet of sea
level and the mountain zones above 5,000 feet sea level. Given that
these climatic zones have well defined climate zones throughout the
year, it's pretty easy to decide when to visit Costa Rica.
Lending a Hand
The idyllic climates of Costa Rica, made it a a great setting for the development of over 500,000 animal and plant species. However, the commercial development of Costa Rica has taken a toll on most of these species and now about 25 per cent of these species are under official protection. Therefore, it is no surprise is on the rise in Costa Rica. A great company to look for is the Green Magic Travel, which organizes custom itineraries with volunteer activities. These activities range from protecting turtle nests in the Tortuguero National Park to counting endangered rainbow hued scarlet macaw in the Corcovado National Park. Did we mention that these national parks are within walking distance of the greatest beaches in the world? Do something good for the world and do something good for yourself at Costa Rica!
Surf's up!
With temperatures ranging between the eighties and nineties F (high twenties to mid thirties C), the beaches of Costa Rica are a great destination anytime of the year. We suggest that the best time to hit the beaches of Costa Rica, particularly the Manuel Antonio beaches in the southern region of Costa Rica, is during the summer season between December and April. The calm shores of Manuel Antonio, South Espadilla, North Espadilla and Playitas beaches are the ideal spots to start learning how to surf.
Ride the River
During the rainy seasons of the year, between May and November, it's the perfect time to ride the banks of Guanacaste's Tenorio River. It's important to point out that you always contact the local rafting companies before embarking in your own rafting expedition. Flash floodings can happen without a warning, so it's better to play it safe. We suggest that you contact the Rios Tropicales rafting company. Expert guides will guide through amazing water rapids that will get your hear pumping! Rafting packages are available to people of all expertise levels and ages.
