Buses and Taxis
Edit ThisSan Ignacio is about 100 miles West of Belize City, and it can be reached through the Western Highway , one of the few fully paved roadways in the country, in about 1 hour and a half. The bus used to be the favorite mean of transportation: from Belize City , the fare used to be about US$7 to catch an express bus that would take you to San Ignacio (called Cayo by the locals) via Belmopan in about two and a half hours. However, recently the bus service has become more sporadic and less reliable, with many runs canceled and very few ways of getting information on schedule and expected trip duration More and more people have hence decided to rely on car rental, which is fairly pricey in Belize , or taxi. a taxi will take you from Belize City to Cayo or vice-versa for around US$60 per car: if you can find travel companion it will be more convenient to use this mean of transportation.
