When to Go in Western Samoa
Edit ThisIf you are planning a vacation to Western Samoa, when to go does not depend much on the seasons of spring, summer, winter and fall, as there are very few differences in those traditional seasons. As Western Samoa has a tropical climate, it basically has only two seasons, the rainy season and the dry season. It is also surrounded by the Ring of Fire, and all of the islands of Western Samoa are volcanic. The only active volcano is on Savai'i, and all of the islands are prone to tremors all year long. Because of all of this geologic activity, tsunamis are possible as well.
The Rainy Season
The rainy season lasts from October to March, with the heaviest rains falling during January. Usually there are about 20 days of rain every month in this season. During the rainy season, the humidity goes up to 80% and can be quite muggy and uncomfortable. The temperatures can get up to around 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit as well, adding to the discomfort, with March being the hottest month. In Western Samoa, where most vacationers plan to do tons of outdoor activities or just relax at the beach, the heat, humidity and rain of this season make it a very bad time of year to go on a vacation. In addition, from January to March, the possibility of cyclones increases dramatically. Therefore, not only is the weather disagreeable, it can also be dangerous.
The Dry Season
With temperatures in the 60s and 70s (Fahrenheit), the dry season is, overall, much more comfortable than the wet season. The humidity drops about 10 percent and skies turn blue and sunny. If you, like most tourists, want to be able to enjoy the outdoors, this is the perfect time to go to Western Samoa. You can enjoy incredible hiking trails, swimming, paragliding, biking, bird watching and a host of other nature oriented activities. With the humidity being lower, it is much easier to breathe and do strenuous and even not so strenuous physical activities. The risk for cyclones decreases as well, as the dry season does not create the optimum conditions for a cyclone. There are more tourists during the dry season, which is from March to October, but it never gets overcrowded, so it's the perfect time to visit Western Samoa.
