Piula Cave Pool
Piula Cave Pool is a natural pool separated from the ocean by close to 2 meters of land. The ocean is literally feet away from visitors as they enjoy an exhilarating swim in the crystal clear waters of the Piula Cave Pool. In addition to swimming, visitors can snorkel in a portion of the cave that is long and deep enough for exploring the underwater sights. The area around the Piula Cave Pool is also a wonderful place to have a picnic and relax. A small donation is requested for visiting that natural pool.
Lefage Beach
Lefage Beach is one of the most serene and picturesque beaches on the island, which most certainly qualifies it as part of the Western Samoa Must-Do's. The beach is so breathtaking that it was actually the location for the film "Return to Paradise." Lefage is simply what one would expect to see in the Pacific. The ocean water is clear and turquoise in color. The fine grain sand is white and soft. Palm trees and volcanic rock oppose each other in a magical way. Every element comes together to form a relaxing location for visitors to enjoy.
Vailima Museum
Vailima Museum was once the home of the famous Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson. He became an important part of Samoa and was even known as "the teller of tales." His large colonial-style house was transformed into a museum after his death. The nicely restored home is surrounded by gardens. Many indigenous plants and flowers compose the beautiful gardens. Walking through them is highly recommended and offers a peaceful way to explore the natural vegetation of Western Samoa. Visitors can also explore the house by taking a guided tour of the home. This attraction is perfect for the non-adventurous traveler.
Papaseea Sliding Rock
The Papaseea Sliding Rock is a group of waterfalls in the middle of the rain forest in Western Samoa. Must-Do's here include exciting water activites. The area is easily accessible by taxi and a small fee will have to be paid once you arrive at the attraction. After climbing a long section of steps to arrive at the actual attraction, a set of 3 waterfalls, varying in length, are available for visitors to slide down. The rocky surface is covered in moss which will ensure a smooth ride down the waterfall. The highest slide is roughly 6 meters. After an exciting ride down the slide, visitors will land in a horseshoe-shaped natural pool. The climb back to the top of the rock can be quite slippery and steps should be made with extreme caution. This attraction involves more strenuous activities than others in Western Samoa and that fact should be considered before arriving to the Papaseea Sliding Rock.
Marketi Tuai
Marketi Tuai is the perfect Western Samoa Must-Do for the traveler who wishes to experience the culture of the area up-close. This is a craft market in Western Samoa that is located in what was formerly a food market. Here visitors can purchase clothing items and traditional Samoan items. Hand-carved wooden bowls, tapa cloths, and small fans are all typical items available. It's the best place to buy gifts and souvenirs to remember your time in Western Samoa.
