Beaches in Western Samoa
Edit This
When traveling to the South Pacific, make sure you make ample time to visit the Western Samoa Beaches. You will find a beautiful never-ending coastline of luxurious sun, sand and surf. Listed are a few of the area favorites, along with some of the activities available at each location.
Savaii Island
Savaii Beach is one of more popular locations on the North coast of Western Samoa, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. It's also a great place to just stroll on the long stretch of black sand beach visiting some of the small villages located on the coastline. It is home to the Turtle Sanctuary and a just a few miles away from the beautiful Satoalepai Lava Fields. Go sightseeing here walking through the lavish forest, hike up to the active but presently dormant volcano, or stick to the coast filled with blow holes, sea arches, snorkeling lagoons and more.
Taufua Beach
Taufua Beach is an amazing area on the southeastern coast of Upolu. It's a great place for long walks and you will come upon many traditional Samoan villages. Another good place to visit here is the Togitigiga National Park, with its natural waterfalls and swimming lagoons. Surfers will love this spot as well for the good sized waves and breaks.
Apia Town Beaches
There's a main road in this area called Beach Road that runs along the local harbor wall and is an excellent place to take walks and sightsee. Go snorkeling with vibrantly colored fish in a deep blue hole of water at the Palolo Deep Marine Reserve. There are many scenic points along this coastal road filled with not just beach spots, but waterfalls, tropical forest areas, mountain views, rivers and lagoons.
Lalomanu Beach
This beach, located on Upolu's southeastern tip, is one of the most picturesque locations in all of Western Samoa. Surf, swim, snorkel, scuba dive or just relax in the warm sun in this beautiful region. If you don't wish to swim in the ocean waters, then take a dip in the nearby lagoon which is just as relaxing and fun.
Lefaga and Aleipata Beaches
Both of these gorgeous beaches are located on Upolu Island. Neither beach is well known, but they're definitely hidden gems of the South Pacific. Lefaga Beach has been called "Return to Paradise Beach" as it's the actual location of the 1953 film of the same name which starred Gary Cooper. Aleipata Beach located on the eastern side of the island is a paradise of white sands and surf, with a spectacular view of offshore islands including American Samoa.
