The Internet Cafe of the People First Network is a non-profit operation aimed at improving Internet access for ordinary people, especially in rural areas. It is the hub of a rural Internet-based communications system based of HF radio email. It currently (Jan 2005) has 20 or so rural community centres, where people can send and receive email and search for information with the help of an operator. In 2005-6 PFnet will also launch a SchooNet with rural schools connected using a VSAT network. The Internet cafe generates funds to run the operation. Recently upgraded to 256kbps ADSL.
