Edit This

There are plenty of New Zealand Must Do’s that you will discover while visiting New Zealand, but chances are you won’t have time for everything that you discover. Knowing what the Top 5 must do’s in New Zealand are will help you to plan your vacation so that you don’t miss anything, but also allows you to schedule in time for some spontaneous trips within New Zealand.

Waitomo Glow Worm Walk

Not very many people think that looking at the larvae of the fungus gnat is going to be that exciting; however, this is perhaps the best thing you can do on your trip to New Zealand. There are no words to describe the experience of seeing thousands of glowworms along a path. To see this wonderful sight you have three different options, you can pay to go exploring in the caves, you can pay for a blackwater rafting trip through some underground caves, or you can opt for a free nature walk that begins just off Tumutumu Road.

Rangitoto Island

Instead of spending all day in the city of Auckland, you will want to jump on a ferry to visit Rangitoto Island, which was created from a volcano eruption 600 years ago. On the island you can walk up to the top of the volcano enjoying the natural beauty of the island as you go by. You can also explore the numerous lava caves. When visiting ensure you pack enough food to last the day because there is nothing on the island, not even garbage cans.

Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa

This museum has one of the best natural history sections around. Inside the museum you will find all sorts of information about animals that are native to New Zealand, but you can also find out just how fossils are formed. The museum is open from daily from 10 am to 6 pm.

Bay of Islands

If you are looking for a great place to go sailing, snorkeling, or even swimming with dolphins this area is the place to go. At the Bay of Islands, you will find a variety of different water activities to participate in, including overnight cruises and fishing trips. While over in this area you can even take a hike up to Haruru Falls to enjoy the breathtaking waterfall.

Adrenaline Forest

If you are over in the Christchurch area this is one of the first things that you must do. Adrenaline Forest is a place for people who enjoy being physically active. Here you will be able to walk through an obstacle course while walking through the beautiful forest. The obstacle course consists of rope bridges, flying foxes, and Tarzan swings, which have all come from various platforms inside the tree canopy of the forest.
