At Lumsden turn onto State Highway 94 and travel west to Te Anau. Time: 1 hour to 90 minutes. Distance: 78 km
Stopping for a full tank of petrol at Te Anau is recommended.
Drive through Te Anau and follow the highway north through the Homer Tunnel and down into Milford Sound. Time: Allow 3 hours. Distance: 121 km
Driving times assume travelling 80km/h on open stretches of road and include a few minutes for short stops.
