Akaroa Travel Guide

Akaroa is the small settlement approximately a 2 hours driving out on to Banks Peninsula from Christchurch. Originally settled as a French colony, Akaroa prides itself on it's french hertiage, maintaining streets and buildings using French names and styles.

The harbour itself is very picturesque making Akaroa a popular destination for getting away from it all. The town is filled with plenty of accomodation and there is also plenty to do ranging from local wineries to sight seeing tours. It also boasts some of the best fish and chips in the region.
