Beaches in New Zealand
Edit ThisNew Zealand is a small island but due to its extremely irregular coastline it has a total shoreline almost equal to that of the United States. The nature of New Zealand Beaches varies a lot. New Zealand has beaches which are subtropical and some of the beaches are even sub-Antarctic in nature. This huge variety makes New Zealand Beaches a major attraction for the international tourist.
Waiheke Island Beach
This golden beach looks over Onetangi Bay. On a calm sunny day you can just dive into the sea and swim in the warm clear colorful water or just relax on the beach and look at the apex of the Great Barrier Island and Little Barrier far on the horizon.
Coopers Beach
Coopers Beach is flanked by the lovely pohutukawa trees. The very old and famous fishing village of Mangonui and the Maori village near the shore make it a great place to stay. The place has many great beach resorts and cafes for tourists to explore.
Hot Water Beach
Situated at the north of Coromandal Peninsula, this South Pacific beach is unique. Your visit to New Zealand will remain incomplete unless you pay a visit to this beach. During the low tide the underwater hot springs created by volcanoes gush out hot water at a rapid rate and this makes the beach water as hot as 64 degree C. Swimming at this beach will give you a natural outdoor spa experience.
Mount Maunganui’s Ocean Beach
Many may say Mount Maunganui’s Ocean Beach is better than the Australian Gold Coast Beach. Situated in the north of New Zealand, this golden beach is a great place for surfing and boating. Recently an artificial reef was created on the coast so that the waves would be higher and a greater challenge for the veteran surfers. The beach town has an array of gourmet restaurants, posh hotels and a nice shopping complex.
Kaiteriteri Beach
Situated close to the Abel Tasman National Park, this sun-baked and golden sand-carpeted beach is the perfect place for vacationers. This is perhaps the best beach on the southern island. The sand of this beach was created from the erosion of granite rocks which released crystals of mica and quartz. These lovely crystals make the sand look glittery and colorful. The beach town has plenty of nice motels and restaurants. The beach resorts are of very high quality and offer world class service.
