Sights

If you find yourself in Rotorua, check out the Whakarewarewa Thermal Village. A unique experience of living Maori culture and volcanic activity. Caution, though, the high sulphur content of the volcanic mud pits makes for a strong odor. Other sights include:

Mud Pools - Watch mud bubble from the ground and feel its intense heat.

Geysers - There is a geyser in Roturia that erupts periodically every few hours!

Polynesian Spa - Here you can choose from a range of temperatures and mineral compositions in a beautifully landscaped natural environment

History - Learn about the Polynesian culture that still thrives in New Zealand to this day.  Observe craftsmen carving in the same manner that their ancestors did, see what an actual tribal town would have looked like.

Kiwi Birds - There is a place where one can observe kiwi birds hatch and mature.

Farm Shows - There are a few shows where one can observe the ways of a New Zealand farmer.  They are very family friendly.  Activities range from observing a sheep actually being sheared to demonstrating the abilities of a sheep dog.
