Travel Guide in Guam
Edit ThisWhite water cascading down more than 30 feet over rocks surrounded by lush green landscapes is a spectacular scene and Talofofo Falls in Guam is truly a beautiful stop worthy of your time while on your next visit to the region. This Talofofo Falls Travel Guide will introduce you to what to expect when at the falls so you can better enjoy the falls.
Get There
The falls are located in a national park bearing the same name and offer a crisp and refreshing fresh water alternative to the hot and salty ocean beaches. The falls are located on the southern part of the island, only about an hour's drive from Guam's northern point. Getting to the falls is an adventure in itself and sets the mood for an exciting day trip. You do need to ride a gondola into the falls area. Along the way you'll get to see tree top views of the surrounding forest. The park is open seven days a week, but make sure to note that operating hours are from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
While You're There
The falls open up into a cool freshwater pool. This pool is a wonderful place to take a dip, or unleash your inner child and swing from a surrounding rope and jump right on in! The surrounding landscape makes for a beautiful backdrop for picnics or sun bathing. When you're done basking in the natural beauty, you can visit a nearby museum and gift shop. There is a small fee required for entrance.
The Yokoi Caves are also found here. You can venture into them to learn about a Japanese soldier who hid out here for nearly three decades following World War II.
Also nearby you'll find some of the most pristine golf courses in Guam. It is possible to visit the falls and take in a round of links in the same day, but it is encouraged to pre-schedule a tee time.
What to Pack
A cooler with lunch meat and drinks is a must for a long day trip to the falls. There is a lunch counter here, but it only offers very modest snacks and you're likely to want something more filling. You'll also need to bring sunscreen, towels, and money. There is a suspension bridge nearby and a few walking trails. If you want to enjoy these you should also pack walking shoes and some sort of bug repellent.
