The Grand Chancellor

Edit This
The Grand Chancellor, formerly the Sheraton Hotel, is the most recent large hotel built in the city, and occupies a prime piece of real estate on the waterfront of Sullivans Cove. A great deal of protest was raised over its construction, since the very position which gives it's rooms such fine views destroyed the view for anyone living north of it. You may here mention of the so-called "pink-brick fiasco" - the contractors ran out of the original sandstone-coloured bricks when they were only one and a half metres off the ground, and the rest of the building is constructed from a slightly unpleasant shade of pink.

The hotel atrium has a couple of restaurants and bars (I reccomend the buffet restaurant - many a happy chilhood birthday breakfast there) and great views of Sullivans Cove (prime viewing for the finish of the Syndey-to-Hobart Yacht Race). A standard twin share room is $A 190 per night.
