Sights in Australia

Edit This

Australia is the pearl of southern hemisphere. It is the biggest island on earth and the home of 100 of rare species and one of the oldest existing aboriginals. Australia Sights combine both natural wonders with modern day architectural marvels.

Kakadu National Park

One of the most visited sites in Australia is Kakadu National Park. Situated in the northern region of Australia, this park is bigger than the size of Portugal. This park, considered to be a natural treasure, features a wide spectrum of wildlife including mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and insects. This national park is also famous for Kakadu’s aborigines who have been living here for some thousand centuries.

Kangaroo Island

Being the third largest island of Australia, Kangaroo Island draws over 140,000 tourists every year. Famed for pristine beaches, serene natural beauty and growing native wildlife, this island is home to a large number of rare animals including koala, Southern brown bandicoot, common brushtail possum, short-beaked echidna, common ringtail possum, the endangered black cockatoo and platypus. Besides animals, you can also view 2 stunning lighthouses and wonderful rock formations in this island.

Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is a state of the art 20th century architectural work that draws admiration from all for its unique structural design and innovative architectural form. Designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon, this spectacular masterpiece is composed of 3 groups of interlocking domed shells that are built upon an enormous platform. Undoubtedly, Sydney takes great pride in this marvelous modern-day wonder.

The 12 Apostles

Near the shore of the Port Campbell National Park is situated the twelve apostles which are nothing but a collection of massive limestone rock formations. The rocks' juxtaposition to one another is what has earned them the biblical name ‘twelve apostles.’ Previously known as ‘Sow and Piglets’, this site is a popular tourist destination in Australia. These 12 unusual rock formations are the outcome of constant corrosion of the limestone cliffs that started some millions of centuries back. Owing to constant friction with the turbulent Southern Ocean and winds, the limestone cliffs were reduced to a group of caves which gradually took the shape of 12 apostles.

The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the treasured natural wonders of the world. It contains an abundant collection of coral reefs with 4,000 kinds of mollusks and 400 types of corals. Apart from the Great Wall of China, this is the only other thing on earth that can be viewed from space. Stretching over 2,500 km from Cape York to Bundaberg, the Great Barrier Reef has over 1,000 tropical islands which are blessed with some stunning sunny golden beaches.
