Down Under - in a sunburned country
[edit this] An often quirky travel writer, Bill Bryson has been famous for some time for picking out the funniest bits of travelling. His book on Australia 'Down Under / In a sunburned country' starts with the hilarious but true story of how a nation lost its Prime Minister (in a surfing accident).Barely a page goes by without reference to a poisonous spiders, lethal snakes, killer jellyfish - and thats before mentioning crocodiles or sharks. This is certainly a country that you come to love (or just plain don't leave the hotel room!).
