Trek the Jungles of Ipoh

Kellie's Castle

Take a 30 minute drive from Ipoh to go and visit Kellie’s Castle. This is a deserted castle that once belonged to a Scottish planter. The castle is a popular attraction that is said to be haunted and has secret passageways leading to secret rooms. You do not need to pay any entrance fee to visit the castle. However, you will need to hire a taxi to take you there. This will cost you around $20 and you can ask the driver to wait for you to finish. One hour is usually enough to view the whole castle.

Perak Cave

Located in Gunung Tasek, this cave was built by a Chinese Buddhist priest in 1926. It has 40 statues of the Buddha, one of which is the tallest and largest in Malaysia. You can also see other ancient murals here. You can take the steep staircase from inside the cave that leads up to the top of the hill. Once you are on the top of the hill, you will be able to enjoy a great view of the whole of Ipoh.

Caving

Gua Tempurung is another place where you can enjoy a nice cave adventure. This is also the largest limestone cave in Ipoh and has existed since 8000 B.C. The cave has two paths that are open to trekking. You can choose the long or the short path; the long path goes to the deepest part of the cave.

Whitewater Rafting

Whitewater rafting at the rapids of River Kampar is another popular thing to do. This is a place where you will be able to test your rafting skills. You will surely enjoy the natural beauty of the rainforest and the butterflies that swarm the riverbanks.
