When to Go in Thailand
Edit ThisIn recent years, Thailand has become one of the most popular travel destinations in Asia. For those who are planning a trip there, knowing the weather in various parts of Thailand, when to go and other factors will contribute to a more enjoyable vacation.
Weather Conditions
Although it is known that Thailand is located close to the equator, the weather is not constant throughout the year. The weather conditions vary from one part of Thailand to another. Generally, the best time to visit the country is between the months of November and February, because the temperature is not extremely high and it rains very little during this time. If you are planning to visit the northern provinces, it is not that bad to travel during the hot season, which lasts from March to May, or the early part of the rainy season, from June to July. Many places in the northern part of Thailand are situated at high elevations, and the temperature is moderate in these places.
Traveling to central and northeastern Thailand anytime between March and May may not be a good idea, because the temperature may soar to as high as, or more than, 40°C. The southern part of the country experiences high temperature throughout the year because it is nearer to the equator. However, it draws many locals and tourists during the hot season because it has many islands and beaches that offer a refreshing vacation.
Tourist Seasons
If you are aware of the tourist seasons in Thailand and know when to go, you will be able to plan your vacation according to your preferences. For those who enjoy partying and making friends during their vacations, the best time to visit Thailand is during the peak tourist season, which lasts from November to end of March, as well as the secondary peak season from July to August. During these times, you will find lots of tourists at popular attractions around the country, and the nightlife in major cities will be more vibrant. However, you need to be prepared to pay for higher accommodation and tour rates. If you want to take advantage of discounted accommodation rates and have a peaceful and quiet vacation, you should travel to Thailand during the low tourist seasons.
Festivals
Thailand receives more tourists during November and April because the 2 most important festivals of the country are celebrated during these months. The Loy Krathong festival usually takes place in November while the Thai New Year, or Songkran, is celebrated on April 13.
