There is whole range of accomodation in Phuket City from low budget 500 baht a night backpaper hotels to the Royal Phuket City Hotel, a 3 star hotel with a splendid foyer and restaurant more fitting of a 4 or 5 star hotel. You will get the best value accommodation here on account of the lack of tourists due to no nearby beaches, however there is a fair bit nightlife around and if you have transport then most of the major attractions are only 20 mins or so away

The Royal Phuket City Hotel

A very resasonable price for 3 star hotel thats looks and acts like a 4 or 5 star. I used to go for the lunchtme buffets they did, first class food, all you can eat and only 400 baht, sure you can eat cheaper, but could also pay a lot more for worse. All the staff speak english and the service is reasonable. The Royal Phuket City Hotel is also popular with the Thai Hi-So which says a lot.

Phuket Merlin Hotel

The Phuket Merlin Hotel is a bit out of the town center but within walking distance. Its a bit scruffy but overall offers good value for money as a the better double rooms are available for around 40 USD. The hotel itself is pretty featureless, but if you're spending a night or two in Phuket City, looking around or getting a connecting boat to the islands off Phuket then you could do a lot worse than stay here. You can book on-line at Sigma Hotels website.

Boat Lagoon Resort

If its vibrant night life, local shops and nearby beaches the don't stay at the Boat Lagoon Resort. Its situated in the Phuket Boat Lagoon Yacht Marina complex which although near a main road is bit off the beaten track. The Boat Lagoon Resort does on the other hand offer suberm accomodation is relaxed and pristine souroundings and Sunsail are based in the Marina to if its yachting holiday you want its a good place to stay. Phuket City is about 15 minutes drive away, the nearest tourist beaches about 30-40 more..
