The Garden at Seven Elephants Cafe

The Garden at Seven Elephants Cafe

The Seven Elephants Cafe offers indoor or outdoor dining in a tropical garden amongst the palms and heliconias. The menu includes dishes from all over SE Asia, including some local Shan dishes, plus some western selections should you need a break from rice. There is some nice music during the day and at dinner, and after dinner you can select from the extensive selection of DVDs should you wish to take in a movie. There is a coffee bar and espresso machine if you enjoy a good, real coffee, cappucino, or even a Thai iced coffee made with a shot of espresso instead of the usual upcountry instant Nescafe. The cafe offers a cozy bar with an original menu of house cocktails, including their own Bloody Mali and the Thaijito - a Mojito made with Thai rum. You can also select from several different bottles of imported red wines. Drinks, snacks, and Western or Thai breakfasts are also offered on the deck overlooking the river. Located at the Soppong River Inn, 150 metres west of the Soppong market along the main road to Mae Hong Son. Free WiFi internet is available for cafe customers.

The Border

Edit This

The Border is without doubt  the 'In Place' to be in Soppong.  Only opened in 2006 but in a short time has gone through many transformations from a spit and sawdust bar to now a fully fledged trendy Bar.

The Border was opened by an English and Thai husband and wife with the idea to create a comfortable English style bar but, with the local hill tribe and Thai customers in mind.  As the owners rightly say tourists are only here 5 months of the year but the locals are here 12 months.  Because of this in the evenings tourists can sit in more..
