The rivers Kwai Yai and Kwai Noi are surrounded by lush tropical foliage and there are many resorts and floating lodges for the traveller who would like a break in one of the most beautiful areas of Thailand.

Kanchanaburi is also the home of several national parks and wildlife sanctuaries with many waterfalls, caves, and varied wildlife. The Three Pagoda Pass, 241 km from town, marks the border with Burma. There is a small but thriving border market.

Erewan Waterfall

The Erewan waterfall is rate often as one the best waterfalls of the kingdom. It is in the area of the national park, 65 kilometres from Kanchanaburi along Route 3199. it is a popular excursion for locals and tourists alike. You can also hire a motorcycle in the city.

Puang Waan resort Kwai noi

This ancient Khmer city is located about 45 km from Kanchanaburi, on the banks of the Kwae Noi River. The city, Muang Singh or 'Lion City' was an important trading outpost of the Angkor empire during the 13th century. The city' shrines are all constructed with laterite and are situated within a compound surrounded by laterite ramparts. On the northern wall of the main shrine stands an original sculpture of Avalokitasvara Bodhisattva (the future Buddha), signifying the use of the shrine as a Mahayana Buddhist temple.

Baan Kao National Museum

Located 35 km from Kanchanaburi the museum exhibits sleletal remains and artifacts of the neolithic time. On the way you can visit the village Prasat Muang Sing.

Sai Yok Noi Waterfall

Also known as Khao Phang Waterfall 60 kilometres from town, this roadside cascade is best visited between July and September, when water is most plentiful. Visitors can take a train from town to Nam Tok Station and continue by local transport to the waterfall, which is 2 km away

Sri Nakharin Dam

Situated not very far from Erwan waterfall, a huge dam was built for a hydroelectric powerplant on the river Kwai. The traveller to this area can spend a night on the beautiful lake nearby which has some quiet resorts, raft houses and floating houses. A great place to watch the fishing activities in the villages while enjoying a healthy breakfast in the middle of the lake.

Daowdung Cave and Lawa Cave

Both caves are located near the Kwai Noi Riverand can be reached by boat from Pak the Saeng Pier. The dark caves house numerous stalactites and stalagmites. It is a nice trip.
