O'Malley's Irish Pub and Restaurant

 From the hardwood floors and teak paneling, to the flagstone front wall and fireplace; every attempt has been made to give the pub a true home away from home, "Irish Pub" feeling. The walls, beams and ceilings are adorned with genuine vintage memorabilia. Many of the items are circa 1900 and older. All of the items decorating the walls and beams, with the exception of the black powder rifle, were accumulated from many private collections in different countries around the world, before making their way up to Chiang Mai. Huen Phen

Huen Phen is a good, authentic northern Thai restaurant serving local Cuisine. .  They of course have the famous kao soi, Chiang Mai's yellow noodle curry. It serves great good      sai ooua - Chiang Mai sausage, sii kroung moo - barbecued ribs, gang huang la - pork and garlic curry. Sticky rice is of course the rice of choice there. It is open in the mid day for lunch and the more romantic garden area is open in the evening for dinning the fare are the same.

The Dukes Restaurant

The Duke's is small yet popular place with westerners and Thai clientele that enjoy good old fashioned American style meal. It is good value with western size portions be it the imported steaks or the delicious pasta dishes. Dave, the manager is an American restaurateur who has returned again to the CNX restaurant scene after a far too long an absence, along with his wife and family who help out in the place, all having been living stateside for some time. Eye-catching orange and brown custom made carpets accent modern stainless steel and leather furniture, with soft accents of vine furniture in innovative shapes. A huge stainless steel and glass wine chiller lines several walls. Gone are the low ceilings and dark rooms. Here you will find space and light and bold design work. And the kitchen is a work of art in gleaming stainless steel.

The Riverside

The riverside area contains 3-4 good quality restaurants that all feature live music (usually good), expansive menus and the ability to sit by the river to eat.

The Riverside is my favourite because the food is very nice, the blues band is famous and excellent, the prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is welcoming. They have cheap (ish) wine, a good seletion of beers and some interesting food.

I would recommend the duck red curry washed down with so-so white wine.
